Aerostich Insulated Elkskin Gauntlet #469

Elkskin palm for durability and protection, and deerskin in other areas for lightweight, protective durable comfort. A visco-elastic TF3 impact pad adds further protection. Adjustable, gusseted gauntlet seals sleeve cuffs. And the wrist is secured with both an elasticized area and a reversed hook-and-loop strap which pulls towards your body for easier adjusting. For added utility and safety, the left thumb is equipped with a resilient visor squeegee. The Insulated Elkskin Gauntlet has a luxuriously warm 100% merino wool lining which is softer, thicker, warmer and more durable than the various fleeces and synthetic fibers used in other insulated riding gloves – it won’t pill, mat down or wear through after a few thousand miles. Hidden between the deerskin and the wool is a thin windblocking fabric covering the entire backside of the hand, providing extra warmth. The tapered gauntlet is lined with a slippery nylon knit so it lies flat and doesn’t twist your riding jacket’s sleeve when you rotate your wrist. Black may bleed slightly when wet. Full and half sizes 8.5–11.

Product Reviews

Since I love eveything from Aerostich including my uninsulated elkskin gauntlet which is my daily glove, I couldn't wait to get these. They're a bit expensive but they're gorgeous when you get them. However, once riding, I found the gauntlet doesn't keep the cold air from reaching my hands no matter how much I cinch up the cuff strap. That's weird because my normal ones are fine. They're also not as warm as I thought they'd be. I found my fingertips cold on a 15 minute 45 degree commute. I haven't tried them with the silk liners yet but I'm a little disappointed as my 15 year old Olympias that cost $40, and that these were replacing, are warmer and waterproof. These aren't waterproof but I knew that buying them but I also found myself having to wear my old Olympias again because of all the recent rain in SoCal. Overall, they're beautiful gloves, but I'm just a tad disappointed that they're not the great gloves I was expecting... especially for the price. -Alan Peltier

I just got these gloves and they are great! So much warmer than my other set of winder gloves. Did a long ride today in mid 50f weather, and the wool liner did it's job. Also bought some silk liners, but will probably just need those for my early morning ride to work when it's in the 40's.

However, I do need to return them or swap out the right hand one since the thumb area does not seem to be cut correctly. So it's causing some pain while riding. I thought it was because the gloves were new, but when I pulled over to take a closer look, I could a difference in thumb length from left to right.

Other then that, they have been worth the $$$ -Steve Krans

I ordered a size larger as was recommended .They are still tight accross my knuckles , There is a bind at the index finger..Just wearing the gloves ,doesn't feel tight. They are not a good riding glove .The insulation is not effective..I put a couple thousand miles on the gloves ,hoping that they would loosen up.They never did. They are a poor value for as much as they cost. -John Thomas Spencer
