I have been using a Roadcrafter one piece suit since the mid-1980's. I have never had occasion to "use" the full protective qualities of the suit until two weeks ago. I came off my bike, went over an embankment and landed about 40' below the highway. I sustained multiple broken bones, including a broken scapula, clavicle and seven broken ribs. These injuries were the result of impacting something hard. However, I literally did not get a scratch on me. My stich was pretty much destroyed and the shell of my helmet was broken from severe impact with the ground, but I did not receive any roadrash or broken skin of any kind. Looking at my stich, it is readily apparent that I would have lost my life had I not been wearing my Aerostich Roadcrafter. I am ordering my third Roadcrafter one-piece suit (to go along wtih my Darien for off road use) and will not ride a street bike without wearing my stich. Thank you for making the best riding suit I know of. -Charles Hilsabeck
I have had my suit for over a month and love it. I thought about it a long time and looked at cheaper alternatives but they didn't fit well and were a pain to get on and off. In this case you get what you pay for.
I am commuting almost full time, 65 mile round trip. I don't know how I did it before. No more changing clothes and the Aerostich requires at least one less layer than my lined leather in cold weather.
Last week was typical MD spring weather. It was 38 degrees for my Friday morning commute and I was comfortable with jeans, sweatshirt and light fleece.
On Monday afternoon it was 93 degrees. I was comfortable with khakis and a tshirt. You can't beat that for all season.
The sizing was right on. I am 6'1 200 lbs, athletic build and am fairly hard to fit. The 46R fits perfect.
Do be patient though. When I tried it on it felt tight through the arms and shoulders.
I told my wife I liked it but was probably going to have to return it. After a day or two and especially after riding it was broken in. It was actually the armor I was feeling and it loosened up. -Stephen Atkinson
Have owned my 2 piece suit for over 10 years. No failures. Blue with black trim, chosen to match my r1100rsa. Amazing piece of kit, superbly designed. As everyone notes, as long as you are moving, you can be comfortable in any temp. If/when I replace, I'll go with the one piece. I went with the 2 piece for flexibility, but find I NEVER take them apart. Thought I would use the pants with suspenders with a jacket, but never do that, and eventually bought a pair of BMW Summer II pants for the purpose. In addition, I don't like the extra bulkiness around the waist area. Will also go black/black. The blue look great on the bike, but looks like a snowmobile suit off. If you are tall in the torso like me 6'0" with a 32 inch inseam, you will need the ellipse or the suit will pull on your shoulders. I was a jeans and leather jacket guy before the suit, now that combo feels naked. A must have. Costly, for good reason. -Charles Babcock
I am on my second suit (I bought a third for my wife & daughters to use when they ride pillion - they are all the same size fortunately). Lost weight so sold the first one.
Only issues so far are broken snap at right ankle and broken zip pull on left cuff. Similar things happened to first suit- I replaced cuff zip pulls with keyrings - easier to close with gloves on.
Aerostich sent me a repair kit to repair the snap on my first suit so I had a couple left over.
Can't fault the suit or the service even though postage & import tax to UK is ridiculous! -bobby klee
I received my Roadcrafter one-piece about one week before a major trip of 6,500 miles -- Seattle to Texas then up to Alaska. 2200 miles on Interstates and 4300 miles on two lane roads. Fourteen hours each day for 10 days. The hottest was 110F in West Texas and the coldest was 37F in Yukon.
I wore the suit religiously. Even in the high temperatures I could adjust the air flow enough to be almost comfortable. Through a three hour thunderstorm in Kansas, not a drop penetrated the suit.
The only failure was the zipper on the right wrist. I pulled too hard when adjusting while riding and snapped off the metal pulltab. It was my own fault and not the design. I juryrigged a fix that night that is still working.
I started with the optional hip pads but removed them within a few days as unnecessary and a bit uncomfortable.
As for size, I am an off-the-rack size 42 but ordered a 44 Roadcrafter. With a sweater or vest underneath, even the 44 was a bit tight but not restrictive.
I was very appreciative of being able to put on and remove the suit within 10 seconds to minimize the heat buildup when stopped.
After some experimentation, I found the perfect place for all essentials with the pockets. -John Madden
I've had my one piece Roadcrafter for about 10 days and nearly 1000 miles now. My initial impression when I opened the box was very positive concerning the quality, but also that it was heavier than I expected. I was concerned about the heat when riding here in N. VA. I was pleasantly surprised that the suit flows a lot of air thru it and is no warmer than my mesh Vanson jacket. Standing still of course you are going to sweat but you would wearing most any jacket. I also got to test it's ability to resist rain in a very good hour-long ride. Some leakage but I had left the underarm vents open, so no complaints. Overall, I think I have found a new "best riding partner". Thank you. -Randy Armel
My Roadcrafter is the BEST piece of riding gear I've EVER used. I wish I hadn't waited so long to finally get one!! -Chuck Mitchell
Hay Andy & Co. Thought Id share this excellent review on the Roadcrafter with you. It just about says it all. Heres the link.

Last fall, I rolled my bike in the middle of nowhere, SD.
I landed on the bike and the bike landed on me.
Thanks to the suit, I was completely uninjured. I'm so glad I was wearing it and the spine insert.
The bike didn't get off so lucky but with some macguyvering and a bunch of very cool guys with a workshop 40 miles later, I managed to keep going for the remaining 8 days of my trip.
Without the suit, I would have been done, and given the remoteness of our location and lack of any cell signals, I very possibly would be dead. -Jason Goray
I have had my one piece suit for a week and a half. So far I have 1,500 miles on the suit in weather from mid 20's to mid 60's. My first ride in 40 degree rain was not happy as the suit leaked in just over 20 miles. However I have since applied wax to the zipper and it seems to have corrected the problem. I'm looking forward to a hard rain to test the suit further.
The color is a little off; more of a navy than black but road grime will soon make that moot point. I have had one low speed get off and the suit performed great although I did slide further than expected.
If this suit wears as well as my old combat touring boots I expect many happy miles of use. -FastFred Ruddock
As overbuilt and well thought out as my Mercedes. Everything just works. No uneeded frills/zips/patches. Had it for almost a year now and riding in everything from 104degrees to 35 cold/slush/rain. -David Yurchak
great suit have had mine for over a year now. customer service is top notch. had to have my suit altered, got it back in short order and was very pleased. it has performed well from ss1000 to 5 day 11 state tours in aug that covered 2,800 miles, also 1,600 miles va trip in sept, and the trip in oct to fla of 1,400 miles with my daughter which was a three day run the suit was worne all the time the venting really works. you may find cheaper but there is no way you will find any better. many thanks! -richard natali
This is my second one piece. Just changed color and added upper body gusset. Really pleased with fit. Original was 10 years old and was still going strong although very gungie. I just wanted a new one. Other than a couple of parking lot spills I have not crash tested the suits. I have not needed a rain suit even when caught in thunder storms. Venting flat works, although you have to be moving, it can be hot when stopped in traffic.
Great customer service from Aerostitch who delivered exactly what I was expecting. You may find a cheaper suit but you will not find better. -David Clancy, Can
I bought a like new second hand suit and I am glad I did. I low sided my R1150GS during and off road school and I was ejected from the motorcycle, thrown into the air, and landed exactly on the top of my left shoulder bone. I was wearing my one piece suit and the integrated shoulder pads distributed the impact, preventing serious shoulder injury. I was a 25 mile an hour lawn dart. My shoulder is sore but the xrays were negative. The shoulder pads did there job. -Billy Rodgers
Bought my roadcrafter about 1991 and it's still going strong. The roadcrafter for me has been the single must have ingredient for happy riding on all kinds of bikes from nakeds, to enduros to crotch rockets (sorry I just don't "get" cruisers) and my current Honda ST1100. The sole exception maybe was the '88 Goldwing and that was only due to the lack of wind and weather flying behind that barn door of a fairing.
Minor stuff like velcro has worn out on some of the pockets but I haven't bother fixing it because they still stay shut without the velcro due to proper design. Even the ultra-critical main zipper down the front and the right leg are still good to go every day.
Though it is grungy and in severe need of a bath after this long the only reason to get a new one is due to my expanding waistline. -Skye Malcolm
I've had my Roadcrafter about a year now & have commuted & toured in it almost daily. It makes travelling to work in a smart suit & tie a breeze - very fast to unzip out of, change into my work shoes & I'm ready to go.
Thankfully not tested the crash-protection, but I feel secure with built-in knee / hip / back / elbow / shoulder protection & very unlikely to get my work suit wet on the way there or back - no problems at all since Nikwax & I started doing up velcro fastners correctly ...
Recent 500+ mile day across France also proved the suit to be all-day comfortable on a 10-hour ride.
Customer service also second to none - Aerostich are a pleasure to do business with, I wish you every success. Thanks! -Hirsty, UK
I received my Roadcrafter a month ago and I have to say that it is the single best investment I have made in 35 years of riding. Absolutely first class and worth every penny. I simply could not be happier. -Ethan Merrill
I really love the one-piece and recommend this suit to anyone who rides a motorcycle or scooter. There aren't many things you can buy for motorcycling that offer as much value and utility as this piece of riding kit. I'm on my second suit after my fist one gave me over 60K miles of great use. In fact, the old suit is still serviceable... I just wanted a new one in a different color when I got a new bike. I could nitpick, but really this is a great piece of riding gear that I think should be given as much importance as a helmet when considering for a purchase. It could use a little more ventilation and better colors, but that's all tha bad I can really say. Worth every penny. -Randy Willoughby
In January 2005,I drove to Duluth, MN from Mt. Gilead, OH, to be fitted for my one piece suit, as I am 5'11" and 275lbs. Three weeks later my suit arrived. I have worn it for about 45,000 miles. I have been comfortable in it from a low of 10F( with areostich heated jacket) to 105F (although I was on the freeway at the hotter temp with every vent open. I have the yellow HI VIZ, and would not get anything but. You get some looks, but hey, if you ride all year round, you are going to get looks any way. I have had two low speed get offs without a scratch. I have ridden in pouring rain all day on both a FLHTC and a CBR1000RR. No wet crotch, however a little on the right leg zipper lower, no big deal. Changes I would make:
1. Zip pocket on both sleeves, as you hold in the clutch you can pay tolls.
2. Removable velcroed in storm gators on the pant legs, to stop cold air when your feet are up on the hiway pegs.
3. More reflective strips on front, back, sleeves and legs, so if you are working on your bike on the side of the road, or helping someone, you are more visible.
4. MP3 or Cell phone pocket high on the left chest inside the suit.
5. Heated pants and boot inserts like the jacket.
I would pay additionally for these features.
Keep up the great work, as you have a great product. Would not even consider riding anywhere without it. -Timothy Garry
Two words...Ridiculously Comfortable!
I literally just received my Roadcrafter last night and wore it for the first time this morning to ride to work. The weather was crisp (according to Arizona standards) and it was the best ride I have made to work yet.
I have been wearing BMW gear which I thought was fairly gold standard but boy was I wrong! Additionally, the craftsmanship is beyond what I ever expected. A friend had been telling me this for some time but I never expected it to BE THIS GOOD. Wow. Kudos to the fine people at Aerostich.
I am a believer! Thanks for the great gear! You have made me a lifetime buyer! -Mike Worsley
I put 20,000 miles on my one piece suit in one year with two crashes (one low speed turn in the pouring rain and one highside at about 50 mph). Each time I was able to get up and run back to the bike to get out of the road. I never suffered so much as a scratch, only a bruised shoulder on the high speed get off.
All the flack I took from people was worth it in that one minute of sliding down the highway on my back.
If my suit can't be repaired I'll be buying a hi-viz yellow one piece, which is a change from my current solid red.
That suit saved me thousands of dollars in medical bills and missed work. I can't say enough good things about the suit. 14 degrees was my coldest ride in to work (37 miles) with no electric fleece.
I will not even go down the street for a quart of milk without my roadcrafter suit.
-Andy Kenny
I have two Roadcrafter suits. They are some of my best pieces of my motorcycle gear. I use them in the summer instead of a rain suit and I use them with a BMW heated vest the rest of the year. With a full face helmet and the Roadcrafter I stay comfortable and dry. I use them in temps from 20 deg. to 80 deg. I love them. -Robert Cyr
I crashed a 1-piece Roadcrafter in hi-viz yellow on grooved concrete at 80 mph. The suit had already been lightly crashed a few times, and had a few small holes and abrasions here and there. The suit let me get up and walk away without a scratch. And the hi-viz yellow works; in fairly heavy traffic on a 10-lane freeway, people a quarter of a mile back saw me fall off. When I finally slid to a halt, I looked back and saw the entire freeway had stopped dead. The nearest car was well over a hundred yards behind me.
After going home, I noticed that I mist have fallen on something in the road; a bolt perhaps. There was a hole on the outside of my left forearm (I fell to the left) that went through BOTH layers of ballistic, the regular Cordura, and the armor... And it stopped at the inner lining. I didn't even know that had happened until examining the suit later. Any less protection would have had me at the hospital getting whatever removed from my arm...
I sent the suit back to Andy Goldfine and the fine Rider Wearhouse folks. Andy told me that I had totalled the suit; not a single panel on the whole thing was unscathed. I had him send it back to me, and I keep it as a reminder of why we need to wear good gear. It has convinced more than one rider to upgrade their gear substantially.
I look forward to getting another Roadcrafter 1-piece -- soon! -Adam Wade
I bought mine 3 years ago, black with ballistic custom orange. Kinda pricey but worth every penny. I wear the one piece suit starting in fall when the rain & cold starts, thru spring when it starts to warm and it hits 80deg.F. Aerostich description is true in all counts, kept me dry in hard torrents til I'm almost at work then the zippers leaks where the knees bend, just like they describe(about an hours ride). Other than that in light to medium rains I'm bone dry(except where it drips down my neck opening). Custom made to fit, comfortable to wear all day on long trips. Now , if I could only figure out a way so that the rain doesn't run down my sleeves & into my rain gauntlets & down my neck it would be perfect but hey thats the adventure of extreme weather riding. Ape hangers on my Buell might solve the glove problem hahaha. Love all the pockets too. I give the one piece suit an Excellent rating well worth it. -Michael Chong
I've had my hi-viz suit for four years / 60,000 miles. It is great, superbly made and comfortable in rain or 'shine. The pockets accommodate plenty.
Occassional leak from front zip, velcro on neck closure is going weak but it has seen alot of action. If Iride to wrk I wear a suit and tie under it, great in all weathers with an electric vest underneath it.
The only problem is that the hi-viz attracts dirt that sticks! I cannot get it clean or hi-viz anymore. If I start commuting again then I may replace it with a new hi-viz simply for safety's sake. -bobby klee
I use the one-pc suite for more than 10 years. In 2004 I bought a new one a High-Viz yellow. I can tell you every body complains about it, WHY, beacuse I am so visible on the road.
Form em there is no other suite that the Aerostich. I drive more than 20 K a year in Europe most of the time in The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. Also in the winter time and summer. In the summer I put my Airco on, all the zippers open en my back also and even in 32 C it is wearable.
It is a pitty that there is no Aerostisch shop in Europe maybe I going to ask the mannagement to open a shop here.
Greetz Peter van Heulen, Netherlands -Peter van Heulen
I've had my 1-pc Roadcrafter for almost 20k miles and ridden in all kinds of weather. After walking away from two low-speed crashes with nary a scratch, I had the suit repaired by the Riderwarehouse. They stand behind their products and exhibit great customer care. The Roadcrafter is a good all-round suit and I feel very safe in it.
My only complaint is the leakage in the crotch area via the main zipper. I would be willing to sacrifice some of the convenience of the suit to have this addressed. It seems that Aerostich has been more upfront about this issue lately. On a naked bike in hard rain or serious road spray (think semis on the interstate), you will get wet in a very uncomfortable spot after 30 minutes or so. -Erik Hoover
Just had my maiden voyage of 1500 miles in my new roadcrafter that I bought out of existing stock online. I rode from northeastern Pennsylvania to Tennesee on the Blue Ridge Parkway and back again. The first day it rained the entire day. The last day it rained all the way home. The suit stayed bone dry and warm. Most mornings were 40F and by mid afternoon around 80F. It is true that if you open up the zips and sleeve cuffs , the breeze keeps everything quite cool. I was asked by several people if it was too hot in the suit. Honestly, it was perfect! I was surprised. I really like all the pockets and visibility and most of all the protection. One guy said that I looked like a walking advertisement for BMW. OH well, I have been called worse. Anyway, I am heading north to Americade on Sunday and it will be hot and wet as usual. The knowlege that the suit is additonal protection will bring addtional peace of mind to this sport touring adventure rider.
It was alot of money for me to spend, but the quality of this suit and the protection it provides speaks for the "investment" of a lifetime. Thanks for making a really awesome product.

I started with a high viz jacket 6 years ago. Then got the pants. After 30K it was time for a replacement.
I did the same thing again, I ride every day in California, where this year it has been monsoon season. This high viz suit has over 30 K on it, I ordered it big for layering so no matter how cold it is, I am toasty with a BMW heated vest and hand grips. The suit is not that comfortable to go shopping in, but that is what it is made for. It is made for protection from cages and weather and it does the job. I arrive at work neat and safe.
The high viz and retro reflective tape make me a road warrior with a brain.
It has so much storage that it is like a suitcase you wear. I will never change and the customer service is not an oxymoron. Another benifit hey it is made in America by Americans and they had no problem putting a bunch of USMC patches on the back of my suit. :)

I have had the distinct pleasure of owning a roadcrafter for the past year. As a member of the Royal Navy, I have to look smart at all times despite a 35 mile commute from home to work. Being able to step out of the protective shell and look fairly 'officer-like' is a great boon. Over the year the suit has eased in nicely and is like a second skin for me. Warm and waterproof in the depths of an English winter whilst cool enough to deal with global warming style temperatures and dry summers here! As a doctor, protection is important, and I feel confident enough that this suit will provide more protection than the average textile suit.
Congratulations chaps on a first class product with equally effective and helpful staff on the end of a telephone. They even managed to find a fit that worked first time.
As they say in the RN - BZ Chaps!

I have read many good things about the one piece suit and most of it very good except long hours in the rain leaks in the groin area because of the zipper design of the one piece suit. I wondered what the maker of the suit had to say about that occasional comment and also wondered how the suit would handle cold temperatures day after day in Spring rides on the Alaska Highway.
Thanks,

Have had my Roadcrafter for about 5 months now. Have
ridden in hard rains, to and from work and not getting wet.(15 miles a trip) The details that the suit has are awesome. A little tricking at first to put on and zip up, however a little practice and it is very simple to master.
In the summer months its a little warm, open the vents and keep moving. More enjoyable in the cool months. After reading about craig wheeler I got bought a Roadcrafter also. The two reasons I where my Roadcrafter, for my loving wife and 6 year old son. -frank mansfield
My roadcrater is going on, oh ancient. 1989 or 90, I forget.
One Iron Butt, one 75 mile off on Hwy. 276 outside Brevard, NC, my "hotel" at the Moto Guzzi Rally in Cruso, NC with Iron Butt winner Steve Attwood (someone burned the picnic table for warmth).
Oh, then there's the trip across the US (4 times), around New Zealand and Australia solo, big parts of Canada too.
It may be time for another suit. I dunno though, this one still works in the pouring rain I just rode through. -Dean aka BMWloco
I've worn roadcrafter and darien suits and can attest to their durability, comfort and weather protection properties. These are the best suits for the money for serious motorcycle travel! -Edward Drass
I wore this product on a two week motorcycle trip down to alabama from chicago and it worked excellent. Great protection from the elements. Not too heavy, not too bulky. I recommend this suit to anyone spending lots of time on the road. You can't beat it for quality and piece of mind. -Patrick Elward
My year-old Roadcrafter and I experienced 75mph get-off on the interstate together. I walked away without a scratch or bruise to show for it. THANK YOU AEROSTITCH! Best $ I've ever spent on riding gear. I'll be buying another. -Brian Wittling
This will be my 4th year with this suit. Its the only one I want to use. Comfortable, functional, I've been very pleased. Have about 30k miles on it!
-Shawn Blair
I've had the Roadcrafter for a year now, and it is by far the most "all encompassing" suit around. Weather, abrasion, and impact protection are second to none. Style is unique, but still presentable and ease of on/off makes it a suit you will u -Dave Roszina
