WATERPROOF: 95% PERFECT
Our fast entry zippers are a compromise, but our Gore Tex® fabric
is totally waterproof. The easy entry zipper system will stay
leak-
free for about 60 to 90 minutes even in heavy rain on an unfaired
motorcycle. Behind a fairing or in lighter rains, it will stay
dry
all day long.
Picture a stadium with 1,000 exits but only two entrances. That's
the idea behind Gore Tex® fabric performance. The Gore Tex®
membrane contains 9 billion microscopic pores per square inch,
each
one 20,000 times smaller than a drop of water but 700 times
larger
than a water vapor molecule. So while perspiration can get out,
it's tough for outside wetness and cold wind to get in. It's
cooler
than leathers in the heat, warmer than leathers in the cold, and
drier under any conditions. And we hot-tape seal all seams.
TESTED ON THE RACK!
We made 20 lb. sandbags out of denim, regular nylon, leather, and
our 500 denier Gore Tex® /Cordura nylon, and filled them with a
special mixture of silica and a marker powder. Then we suspended
them beneath a heavily weighted platform and dragged them down
the
road behind a truck just to see them wear through. Ouch.
Performance art? No way. A physics experiment? Sort of (our
abrasion tests inspired a cover story on abrasion several years
later in Cycle Magazine). Repeated testing shows the superiority
of
Gore Tex® / Cordura nylon over other materials. That's why
Aerostich Suits are tougher than suits weighing twice as much.
TEN SECONDS OR LESS.
Get your stopwatch. The Roadcrafter s exclusive zipper
configuration requires less of your effort and almost none of
your
time. Unlike conventional suits, you can shed a Roadcrafter one
or
two piece suit in under ten seconds.
Just ten seconds and you'll be wearing nothing but your street
clothes. Aerostich Roadcrafter Suits are designed to be worn over
them, without the hassle of changing clothes to match weather and
riding conditions. And a Roadcrafter is just as fast to get into,
so you can get out of town. Zip yourself into a Roadcrafter, and
ten seconds later you'll wonder why anyone would want to wear
conventional riding gear.
GOING BALLISTIC
Knees, elbows, shoulders all are protected in a Roadcrafter Suit.
We use TF2, a costly high-performance viscoelastic material
developed for use in medical science. Once an Aerostich
exclusive,
now copied in a few other suits. Custom shaped for each suit, and
removable through pockets in the lining, this padding feels soft
and molds to your body. On impact, though, it s no softie: it
instantly becomes firmer, absorbing and distributing energy.
BE SEEN IN THE DARK
BY THE BLIND
We've doubled the reflective area on our Aerostich suits so you
can
be seen and be safe. We use a new 3M Scotchlite reflective with
more durability and reflective power. The Scotchlite crosses the
back vent, the front pocket flap, and the ankle adjustment tabs.
A SUITCASE YOU CAN WEAR
There's no such thing as too many pockets, and it's a good thing,
because our one-piece suit has ten of them. The Roadcrafter is
fully lined with free-floating nylon taffeta so it slides on
right
over your clothes. After it's on, start packing. One inner pocket
with Velcro closure for valuables and nine exterior pockets.
Velcro
closure tabs at the waist, wrists, and ankles allow a precise fit
to minimize wind leaks. The gusseted wrist zippers, underarm
zippers, and two-way back vent zipper provide good ventilation in
all temperatures (the Aerostich Suit is exceptionally comfortable
from 50 to 90 degrees when worn over your everyday clothes).
LIGHTWEIGHT AND STRONG
Aerostich suits weigh less than leathers, so you can easily wear
them over your street clothes. And they're as tough as they are
light. All seams are double-stitched using heavy #69 bonded nylon
thread. The seat has a double layer of Cordura, and the
shoulders,
elbows, forearms, knees and shins are protected with a layer of
1050 denier, urethane-coated ballistics nylon.
THE RIGHT FIT FOR YOUR ROADCRAFTER
To determine the proper fit, consider your riding style and
primary
application. Recreational sport riders who commute in 40 to 85
F
weather, those living in milder climes, and riders with unfaired
motorcycles will find the tighter fit more comfortable and
functional. In the spring, summer, or fall, only a shirt and
trousers are necessary for comfort in your Roadcrafter Suit. And
on
those chilly days, there is still just enough room for a fleece
jacket or electric vest. Riders who use their motorcycles year-
round in a wide range of temperatures, or grizzled touring riders
that commute every day and live on their motorcycles during two
week vacations, should consider a looser fit. This allows the
rider
to layer light warm clothing to extend the suit's temperature
range
without sacrificing comfort and mobility.
THE ULTIMATE
FOR CONVENIENCE:
ROADCRAFTER ONE PIECE SUIT
If you want quick and easy convenience, we recommend the one
piece
Roadcrafter. This is the original, classic design for everyday,
any-distance commuting and touring. The one piece Roadcrafter has
been worn on every continent, in every type of weather to nearly
every place you can get to on a motorcycle.
Loose enough to slip on easily over your street clothes, it's
tailored to minimize wind flutter and drag at higher speeds yet
it's light and compact enough to pack away or carry to the
office.
Years of experience have proven the suit's abrasion protection
and
all weather capability. The One Piece Roadcrafter is literally
covered with innovations for riders: high-visibility Scotchlite
reflective; nine strategically placed, useful pockets which also
provide extra abrasion protection; provisions for
add-on/removable
arm and thigh map-pockets, hip pads and back pad; underarm and
back
vents; side entrance zippers for access to your street pants that
also provide extra ventilation; comfortable, ultrasuede collar
lining; and a variety of adjustable tabs and zippers that allow
you
to fine-tune the fit.
The One Piece Roadcrafter is all about attention to detail, real-
world riding needs and meticulous craftsmanship. Machine
washable,
sizes 34-48, short, regular, or long (see order form for sizing
chart).
THE ULTIMATE
FOR VERSATILITY:
ROADCRAFTER TWO PIECE SUIT
If you need maximum versatility, we recommend the two piece
Roadcrafter. Zipped together, it s as fast and convenient to use
as
the one-piece version, yet the pants and/or jacket can be worn
separately after a long day of riding. The jacket overlaps the
pants by about six inches and is attached with a two-way zipper
securely sewn to both the shell and lining to stand up to stress
and hard use. The pants have an inner waist drawstring with
cordlocks and two additional pockets sewn into the lining
(accessible behind the flaps covering the side zippers.) All the
features of the one piece Roadcrafter are included in the two
piece
suit, making it the most sophisticated and versatile all-purpose
rider s suit available. You ll feel its value and enjoy its
security and comfort every time you put it on, year after year.
Machine washable, sizes 34-48, short, regular, or long (see order
form for sizing chart).
SIZES & COLORS
We manufacture Roadcrafter Suits in many stock colors and 24 off
the rack sizes: short, regular and long, sizes 34-48. If you
wear
a size 40 men's suit, the same size Aerostich suit will fit over
your street clothes. If you are unsure of your size, see the
order
form for sizing chart or call and we'll help you get the right
fit.
You'll also find notes there on suit fitting techniques.
In addition, we offer custom size alterations, non-stock colors
and
optional features (see pages 8-9). Custom-altered suits are non
refundable and these alterations are made at the cutomer's
expense.
