I was riding from Portland to Seattle today and the 1st 1/2 of the trip on I5 was overcast and threatening torrential showers, it finally hit in buckets just south of Centralia. I have a full faced helmet and the rainx was fairly washed off from the summer season. I kept wiping the shield with squeegee on my left glove but finally the rain and the truck through back overcame it all (plus the fog on the inside) and I raised my shield to see the road - but at 70 MPH the rain straight into your eyes is a bad option. I finally stopped at a rest area north of Centralia and got off the bike and sat in a shelter at a picnic table out of the rain. I got a paper towel and dried my shield and then remembered that I had stuck a package of raincoat and fogex in my tank bag. I sat and followed the instructions (wait 3 to 4 minutes and let it dry and clean with a clean cotton towel). I didn't have much hope that the next 10 miles would be better than the last but I got on my bike and headed out (still in the torrential rain) and with the shield down the rain beaded off very very fast and the fog-tech kept the inside clear the rest of the way home. FINALLY A WORKABLE SOLUTION FOR RIDING IN THE RAIN WITH A FULL FACED HELMET!!! It may only be good for a day or two (not sure at this point), but it changed a day that was starting to feel damn dangerous to a walk in the park. Having a shield you can see through while having to ride in the rain was a blessing today! I will certainly order some more and stuff in various pockets of my riding gear. (Posted on 10/16/12)
Well, it's not bad. I don't really notice a lot of difference. It works but it's not mind blowing. I'm going to re-apply it and see if that helps I might not have put enough on. Considering what Rain-X will do to a face shield I'm glad they make this stuff, but it's not as good as I expected. (Posted on 12/7/11)
I ordered this because it was on sale and I figured I wouldn't be loosing money if I tried it... I got it in last night and rode in to work this morning.
It had rained all night and most of the morning, and while it was only lightly misting and I do have a windshield, still, following busy morning traffic for over an hour on wet roads has a way of messing up your glasses or face shield.
This morning was great. The mist never phased my clears. Never had a need to drop down the small shield I do have.
I am ordering more and I can't wait for a real rain! (Posted on 11/23/11)
