Short waisted

Review by Truant on 5/24/12

Love the pants, love the features. I've been a devoted Stitch guy for several years. The only issue with these pants in my opinion is that they don't fit as well if you are relatively tall and/or long waisted. I think they could display them over a standard pair of jeans to show how far below they belt line they are going to fit. That way a customer could make a better initial buying decision. I tried two different sizes before discovering the Dariens were the only ones that would fit me correctly.

In my perfect world, you would be able to order either design with a high or low cut waist.

AD1 Pants

Review by Mark on 5/14/12

Well, after reading all the reviews on AEROSTICH products,I decided on the AD.1. pants and so far I am very pleased with them,I have to say I normally wear a 32 or 34 w in most jeans and I had to send back 2 pairs of AD.1's but the 36r fits pretty good,a little short from crotch to waist ,the quality on these was worth it,they appear very well made and look like they will hold up for a long time,a bit stiff but are softening up with regular use, they may be warm in hot weather, but time will tell.I have a pair of vented pants (wont mention name) the inner mesh type lining and straps to hold the rain liner in have already been fixed and sewn many times,in 1 season of riding (18,000 miles) and they were not much cheaper than these.Overall so far very pleased,I will put them to the test this year for sure as I am heading to Alaska & Jasper/Banff N.P's for the month of July!! A+++. I will give another review during the warmer summer months in the heat and after the long journey to the Great White North!!

Best pants ever!

Review by manuel on 4/11/12

I purchased the AD1s after weeks of reviewing other options. And I am glad I did, these pants are GREAT! I am 6ft with a 33in inseam and 34 inch waist, I ordered the 34L and they fit fantastic like they were tailored for me. The quality is very good, far better than all the others I looked at. Have not had them in the rain yet but i am sure they will perform well. Also they are not "slippery" on the bike seat like other pants are.....I love them, money well spent. Thanks Aerostich.

AD 1 pants

Review by Harold on 4/7/12

I've only worn them a couple of times, but the fit & quality are great. Very comfortable. The only negative is that when riding they (pant legs) slide up. I hope that they keep the rain from going down my boots, we'll see when it gets wet.

Not Right For Me

Review by M3Arch on 4/3/12

While of Aero quality in construction, I found these pants very long and really disliked the knee pads attached by velcro. Not being in pockets like other Aero pants, I consistently knocked them out of position when putting on the pants. I also noticed that these pants have a lower rise from crotch to waist than other Aero pants I've owned. All in all, a really handsome pair of pants that just didn't fit me well enough and with some questionable details like the knee pad attachment. I've returned them for a refund.

bummer

Review by Jeff on 4/2/12

I live in the Seattle area and after vacillating for 5 years i decide to jump in and try a one piece. Its always a gamble when buying gear through the mail and this was no exception. the first suit was too small so i couldn't really try it out so I sent it back. I thought about it awhile and ordered a second suit, It fit but after taking a few short rides realized it wouldnt work, just too bulky for me, so back it goes. I think maybe i will just get some new overpants, AD1s are backordered and they are making them stateside,I feel lucky. 2 weeks later they arrive, they look strong and of excellent quality, they fit and I throw the box away, that was dumb. One week later i am riding twenty minutes in a good rain and the crotch is wet. Bummer, its been six weeks and with this last return almost $100 in shipping. On tuesday Im going down to see Bill at Ride West, get some new riding gear and not look back.

warm and dry

Review by hogcrazy on 2/21/12

Great pants to keep you dry and warm. I have to say they could be a little warmer. But, its easy to throw on some long johns under your pants. For touring, there is noithing better for keeping you warm and dry. Xcountry several times now, and to have something that is easy to pack when not using is a big deal for us. Pants and jacket are like no other.

Very good pants. They are water-tight and keep you warm.
Excellent pocket design.
Definitely worth the money in my opinion.

First Impression

Review by Lane on 12/28/11

It was a great leap of faith for me to order these over the Internet without ever seeing them live, and being able to overcome my fear of them not fitting, or not what I hoped they were going to be.

My first thought was: "Quality" They are everything I wished for as far as looks and a critical eye going over their construction.

The second thought was: "Boy, I sure do hope these things fit..." Living outside the US, they cost me over $422 dollars with S/H, Import Duty etc., to get them, and the hassle and expense of trying to make a return would be insult to injury, if I was forced to do so, despite Aerostich's best intentions.

Living outside of America, you take a real gamble with this kinda stuff that all the "free shipping" and "simply return for refund or exchange" ease, unfortunately doesn't apply to you.

My main two purchase considerations, were to have FULLY side seperating leg zippers, and a built in GoreTex membrane, no hideous removable liner. I have a 20 year old pair of still perfectly functioning GoreTex rain pants with fully seperating side zippers, that made me truly appreciate those specs. That they are not Motorcycle specific pants, is their only drawback. The AD1's are their wonderfully augmented upgrade for me.

My first and only two rides so far, have been in the pouring rain, and I was actually surprised that I didn't get wet though...

There is a very iffy gap between the front of my jacket bottom and the top of the pants. I think if I was riding my other bike, (more upright) I would have gotten a soaked midriff. If the waist was only an inch or two taller, I would give them 20 out of 10 stars. As it is, they kinda feel like how those "Low Rider" jeans look. I sure wish the waist was higher!

This will force me to make a purchase of a different, longer cut jacket, before my next ride on my touring bike.

The last curious thing, there is no flap or zipper over the top of the rear pocket. I can picture this thing filling up with water, eventually. If I have to put my wallet (or whatever) in a ziploc bag, what's the point? I see no benefit to having a pocket exposed to the elements on a pair of rain pants. (This is also why I chose the AD1's over the Dariens, front pockets with open tops? Ahroo?)

I am sure hoping that the low waist thing isn't these pants fatal flaw, and I can somehow work around it. Aside from that, I am still glad that I bought them. Thanks, Aerostich! :)
