great vest until it stopped working [infinite resistance and no continuity showing through the vest]
And i haven't even had it long enough to wash it yet [but it got me through the winter]
other than that, only gripe is the plug in is hard to get at once the vest is on [and I've been practicing yoga for 40 years] and the fuzzy blue doesn't go with everything [but i'm not exactly a fashion plate anyway] (Posted on 5/12/08)

Everything they say about this vest is true. On a recent trip through the Rockies this fall, it made the difference of not only getting to the destination in comfort, but safely as well. Several other riders in our group were trying to get the vests FedEx'd to the hotels! (Posted on 12/9/07)

Only one ride with it so far but it rocks. Could probably double as a toaster for your Pop-Tarts. (Posted on 3/24/07)

I don't have the luxury of traveling very often so the bulk of my riding is commuting 30 miles per day in Kansas where the weather is pretty unpredictable. After commuting with my new electric vest for about 12 days in temps from 28 to 35 I got kind of complacent about it's effectiveness. This morning I went to work in a better jacket than I had been wearing with the vest but without the vest in 40 degree weather and was amazed at the general non-warm feeling I had. I won't make this mistake again. Thanks for a great product. Steve (Posted on 2/27/07)

This vest is a good buy and an absolute necessity if you ride in the cold. I ride in the Seattle area year-round and usually don't need anything more than this vest under my Roadcrafter suit during the cold months. Installation is super simple. The construction is top-notch and the fit is pretty good... it seems to bunch up a little at the shoulders under my suit, but it doesn't affect the vest's comfort or heating capability. If you've never tried an electric vest, you owe it to yourself to get one of these! It really works to keep your torso/core nice and toasty. One of these and some heated grips are all you need to seriously extend your riding season. The only complaint I have is the inner heating wires seem to be a little fragile. I've owned three of these vests and two have had shorts or opens in the heating elements over time. The good news is that Aerostich will repair or replace any defective items for two years after purchase...and they have been great at this in my experience. If you have been thinking about getting one, don't delay any longer... you'll wonder how you ever rode without one. (Posted on 2/22/07)

Simplifying Comfort (...a Better Power-cord)

We have been making this pretty neat coil cord power control for twenty years. I remember designing it to be an illuminated hi-low inline switch of such small dimension that it would not be a 'lump' in the middle of a compact coily power cord. We went round-and-round trying to find a switch which would allow a better functioning and packaging design. Something tactually, visually, and ergonomically lighter and cleaner.

And there still isn't anything as good in terms of simplicity and overall handy-ness. I wanted this cord switch to be so easy to use one could forgo a thermostat. They always seemed useless over-complexity...even the newer nice digital ones everyone uses now (just yesterday all were stupid power-hungry inefficient resistance rheostats). I'd used one several times but wanted something thoughtlessly simple, super-compact and field-reparable if ever needed. (This last consideration turned out irrelevant.)

It's just too easy to be riding along and without looking down move my left hand downward from the grip momentarily to find the cord lying across my left thigh and then by touch alone (finger or thumb) push or release the illuminated in-out button…then move my hand back to the left grip.

It's only one second, done without thinking, and there's no fumbling around. I can feel at a touch if the button is in high or low position to maintain temperature at a nice level all day long, with neither thought or effort. Just click-on and click-off as needed for comfort, and if there's ever question about power status a quick glance down shows the red pilot light glowing on or off through the button's cap. Even in daylight.

So today if I were for some reason forced to use some non-Aerostich electric garment, I'd still want this simple, intuitive and reliable coil cord and switch.
