  1. TF3 Standard
Great product but as the description and several other customers have said, it should be standard equipment on all your jackets.

  2. IS IT EVEN THERE
Got this with an R3. Super easy to install. The long length of it fit so well that I could not feel it on backrest. Unlike other back protectors it didn't create an annoying hard patch that after 200 miles made you want to call it a day. Literally could ride all day in this. Great product

  3. Aerostich Customer Service
Note: Regarding the review about the back armor hook and loop attachment issues when added to an 'older Roadcrafter' - this suit must be very old, as since the 90's and going forward, all Aerostich garments have had loop attachment points for back armor added when the suit or jacket is manufactured.

  4. TF3 Back Armor
At the recommendation of your support staff I purchased this to add to my older Roadcrafter that does not have a pocket for a back pad. I was told (and after verifying the online instructions) that the pad came with adhesive velcro patches to attach to the inside of the suit. I put the pad on and held it in location with the belt. I then put on the suit, verified the pad was in the correct location and had my wife remove the backing from the adhesive pads and install them in the suit using as much pressure to attach the adhesive pads as she had. I removed the suit and the back pad with adhesive pads immediately fell out.
The back pad appears very well constructed and is comfortable but I feel your claims for the velcro pad attachment are overrated.

  5. Must have for something that feels like it's no...
I haven't had the pleasure of testing this spine protector, and hope I never do. I do enjoy the peace of mind it gives me having it in my R3. It feels like nothing is there to boot. Install was a piece of cake. Sizing char seems to be spot on. I'm 6'2" and ordered a large. I would have gotten it along with my suit if I had know about it at the time of ordering. I hope the team at Aerostich makes this a default accessory at some point in the future.

  6. Hope I Never Need It
I followed the sizing chart and it fit my Roadcrafter perfectly. On test fitting it was most comfortable a little low (connecting about half of the velcro) but then I reread the instructions and noticed the part that stated the exposed loop part of the velcro could abrade the suit lining. I reinstalled higher, mating all of the hook and loop so none was exposed. It seemed less comfortable at first, but after a few hundred miles I no longer notice it is there. As an added bonus, it presses my Kenetsu electric jacket a little closer for more warmth. I haven't ridden it in 90+ degrees yet, but other reviews state there is no reduction in suit ventilation. It is narrow at the back vent, so I don't expect any reduction in ventilation.

The suit does not roll quite as tightly with the back pad installed, which makes stowing the suit in a pannier or top box a bit more troublesome, but I am happy to have the additional protection. It does roll tighter than I expected for having back armor.

  7. Back Protector
I got the TF3 Standard Back Impact Armor for my new Aerostich R3 one piece suit. It is a well made item the only problem is that it does not fit in the suit. It is too long and too wide to connect with the Velcro strips already in the suit. As others have said it should come with the suit, and it should fit.

  8. Aerostich TF3 back Impact armor
Great product, good fit and easy to place in your jacket. Like many others, it seems to me that it should be standard like elbow and shoulder armor. A+

  9. I'm impressed!
I bought a used Darien jacket from a buddy and wanted a back pad because I felt weird riding without one. I looked at several options found online but finally decided to go with the original. I'm really glad I did! I like that it doesn't restrict airflow through the back opening, I like that it's a perfect fit. What surprised me was how it seems to disappear when riding in the jacket. I really forget it's there. That doesn't mean it's not substantial. I feel very safe wearing this armor. Thanks Aerostitch for your emphasis on rider safety.

  10. Back pad should come standard with jacket
I really like this back pad. It is soft and compliant. It is also reassuring that it covers the bladder area. My only issue is that I believe that back protection should be included with a motorcycle jacket, especially a high end one.
