  2. Just right inside the Aerostich or Darien
I think that the best that can be said of this jacket is that it dissappears inside my rididng suits, leaving only its function. It keeps me warm, doesn't hinder movement, is light weight, and is comfortable when not on the bike. And it has useful pockets.

  3. The best layer under a Darien Jacket!
I purchased the TLTec Soft Shell Fleece Jacket over ten years ago, around the time it was introduced (in an attractive Sage Green color). I have found that it is the perfect layer for cool temperatures underneath my riding jacket. Unlike the Darien Liner jacket, which I also have, I don't overheat or sweat when wearing the softshell. On days that are warmer, but cool enough to require another layer, the Soft Shell jacket works well with the pit zips open. My only gripe is that the jacket could be slightly longer in the torso; it doesn't matter when I'm seated and riding but if it is worn alone as a jacket/sweater, it is just a little too short. Honestly, the material used on this jacket is far superior to any other softshell outdoor jacket I've owned. Most softshell jackets are sweat-inducing plastic bags, this one is not. Definitely worth the expense.

  4. Very nice
This jacket has a luxurious feel to it. Great interior feels soft and warm.

This has only been on some upper 40 degree rides so far so it's not fully tested, but with additional liners I was fine under the Roadcrafter.

This feels like a winner to me.

  5. Functional but not stylish
The Soft Shell Fleece Jacket is a relatively thick and heavy fleece, compared to other fleeces. It's functional and does well as a layer under a riding suit.
I don't find it suitable for non-riding casual wear, though. The biggest issue for me is the collar. The front of the collar is sewn in a way that it wants to close around your neck even when unzipped. Wearing the jacket unzipped it looks like you're wearing a cape, with the top of the collar closed around your throat even though the rest of the jacket is open. And the points of the collar, when unzipped, are constantly poking you in the throat and chin. It's quite odd, really. So I find the jacket comfortably only if I'm going to wear it fully zipped, all the way to the top.
The fit is also typical for Aerostich, which is to say fairly baggy. Works great on the bike as a layer, but if you have a trim body shape then this is not a flattering cut.
I've been an Aerostich fan for years and I still am. Most of the gear is great. I'm not planning to return this jacket since I have worn it on the bike several times, and I will continue to wear it as a layer; but for this kind of money there are other choices that would do as well on the bike and be more suitable for off-bike wear.

  6. Second TL Etc Soft Shell Fleece Jacket
OK, I'm the dummy. I was wearing the jacket working on the yard, it got warm, I took the jacket off and threw it on the hood of the tractor where it promptly slid off the hood and onto the very hot muffler. Because of the damage done to the jacket, it would have been more expensive to repair than replace. With that said, it's a very nice jacket to wear from about 65 degrees down to about 30 degrees for just normal use, riding it's good down to about 45 degrees. It's very waterproof, it's breathable, it's light, it's wonderful. SO, I spent almost $200 for a jacket when I could have bought a similar jacket at Walmart for $29. Why, because it's temperature range is so darned wide. It's very easy to own.

  7. Second TL-Tec Soft Shell Fleece
This is my second TL Tec Soft Shell Fleece Jacket. I lost a BUNCH of weight so my XL was too large. Now Medium fits much better. Great jacket. Stops the wind when wearing at a campsite. Good down to mid-forties temp when under good riding jacket. Comfortable, plain and simple.

  8. My favorite jacket!`
This is my 3rd such TLTec jacket- I've worn out the other two as an everyday layer with riding gear or just as street wear. Each time I wonder, "why are these so expensive?" and then I remember once I have one. The fit is perfect for casual wear or under a Roadcrafter or Transit, the weight is perfect for California year-round, the pockets are all in the right places, and the tailoring makes it work perfectly for me. I also like the 'Buck Rogers' look it gives me (even if only in my imagination). So glad I found it on the end of year sale! Good to be back in my favorite.

  9. TLTech soft shell fleece
I own this TLTech shell and while I was apprehensive about the cost I was interested in a shell that would fit nicely with my Roadcrafter design in mind, who else would know better? We'll make no mistake this jacket is worth the price of admission. Fitment for me was as snug as I could possibly get off the rack in order to prevent bunching and the elastic sleeves fit well and lay flat, sleeves seem to be rotated or the fabric stretches appropriately in the right places. Windproof... check, fit... Double check, waterproof it seems to be as well! Comfort is outstanding and it has been a go to jacket for work and play lately with this cold and wet spring in 2016. Had I any idea of the quality, fit and comfort I would have ordered one years ago. When this one starts to show wear I won't hesitate to order another. Made in the USA and with outstanding quality. 4.5/5 stars. Thank you Aerostich, sooner or later I'll have your entire damn catalog in my house and garage.

  10. TLTec Soft Shell Fleece Jacket
I’ve found the Aerostich TLTec Soft Shell Fleece Jacket #1658 to be a nicely tailored nonrestrictive jacket with purposeful attention to detail. The low bulk sleeves slide effortlessly into about any shell and the well integrated pockets are useful. It’s more wind resistant than normal fleece and comfortably adds 10-15°F of range to a Roadcrafter (exposed to upper chest wind blast). Also, it packs well and doesn’t easily wrinkle. At medium build 6’1”, size Large fits well in girth, but the body length is a bit short. Normal activity easily reveals my belt. The front measures 22” and the back 26.75” from the collar seam. Sleeve length measures 37.5” to the shoulder seam and across the back to mid-shoulder (to mimic mid-wrist to the tip of the shoulder blade to mid-shoulder). For casual wear, unzipped collar ears won’t stay folded away from the chin.
