Good But it Needs Range
Review by YetiGS on 3/23/12 -
The F2P was easy to install and works as advertised . . . except: the range isn't very good. When I first installed it, it would barely work outside the garage. I got the AC adapter which made it so that it works to end of the driveway, but NO more. It's nice to not have to carry a garage door opener any more and I just have to wait until I'm close enough to use it. Overall, I'm satisfied, I just wish it had more range.

A great device for bike OR car! -- with caveats
Review by webbie on 9/8/11 -
I've been using the Flash-2-Pass openers (four, total) on both my bikes and cars for a couple of years and love it. My driveway slopes, and in the winter it's nice to have the extra range this opener offers so that I can blip the high beams a few houses away and not have to stop in the slippery drive. And of course, on the bikes it's a great thing to have because stopping to open the door means having to dismount on the sloping drive, open the door, get back on the bike and start up uphill.
The only points to be aware of are:
1. An older vehicle like my '90 Ford has "always on" high beams that can be flashed without the ignition on. If it were parked outside, someone could simply blip the high beams and the door would open.
2. The F2P receiver unit runs off of the garage door opener voltage; it normally has no power supply of its own. Now, after installing a newer door opener I found that I had to have my m/c front wheel right up against the door before flashing the lights; otherwise, no go. As it turns out, the newer opener's ambient voltage is lower than the old one, making the receiver anemic with no range. But there's a solution: the manuf. makes a 12VDC adapter (a nice compact little unit that doesn't hog the whole box) that plugs into the receiver on the wall to perk up the operation. Bingo! All is now well again...providing there's an outlet nearby.
Other than those two issues, this thing's a winner!
