Eureka Ground Cloth
- Product Review (submitted on November 15, 2008):
I would not recommend buying this tent. I have one, primarily because I saw it here in the Aerostich catalog, unfortunately for me I didn't buy it through Aerostich and can't return it.
Problems with the tent are two fold. Normally tents have zippers inside the tent area to cover the mesh "windows", this tent instead only has two vestibules and a side vent cover. You cannot adjust the side vent cover from inside the tent. There is no cross ventilation without the vestibules being open, thus reducing their usefulness in keeping your gear protected and dry.
On a recent trip, it was warm at turn in time, until about 2am at which time the temps got COLD. The only way to get the tent warmer was to get out of the sleeping bag, fully zip open your mesh tent "door" and then shift your weight into the vestiblue, fully zip open the vestibule, get out and walk around the vestibule stakes to get to the side cord which holds the tent's side vent cover open, then you climb back into the vestibule, zip that up, unzip your mesh tent door, climb in and zip it up.
Totally a PITA verses every other tent I have owned where you can easily regulate tent temps by zipping and unzipping windows inside the tent. I would strongly recommend that you save your money and buy a different tent with internal zippered windows and a rain fly.
