Product Description

Classic waxed cotton and modern design merge in a serous riders’ jacket. The CJ’s details and features have been refined across thirty years of rider input and experiences. There are over sixty off-the-rack in stock sizes for a precise, professional fit and unmatched all-day comfort. Waxed cotton provides extreme all-weather performance over any distance and to every destination. It’s proven waterproof and breathable technology that is literally from another century and it still works great and looks amazing today.

The modern ergonomic pockets, vents, armor and numerous other details have all adapted from the well-proven Roadcrafter Classic model (a lightweight Cordura Gore-Tex version of the CJ). This one uses a supple 10 oz. English waxed cotton, with an added layer of waxed cotton fabric incorporated for increased abrasion protection at the elbow and shoulder areas. For greater comfort and super fast on-and-off CJ’s are fully lined with black supernyl. It’s a dense weave nylon that looks and feels a bit like satin but is far more durable. Impact protection is provided by removable TF3 (or TF6 if you prefer) armor in the shoulders and elbows, with pre-installed hook & loop for adding the optional TF back impact armor.

Large underarm vent zips, a two-way zippered back vent and an adjustable dual height collar allow huge airflow on warmer days and when zipped up with a thermal layer underneath a CJ will keep you warm and protected even in the coolest riding weather.

Nine outer and one inner pocket allow ample storage and organization for your EDC items, including a extra-large zippered cargo pocket on the right chest with a hidden supernyl stash pocket just inside for quick access to cash, cards, or your phone. There’s also a zippered pocket on the right forearm for change, keys or earplugs. Hidden under the upper left chest outer pocket’s weather flap is a helmet holder carabineer, and the pass-thru design behind this pocket provides easy glove storage when gassing up. Large lower cargo pockets feature fold-over flaps for all weather secure stowage.

The rain flaps covering the back airflow vent and front logo pocket are the same fabric as the jacket body, but for riders wanting additional nighttime visibility, these flaps are available on special order with 3M Scotchlight® Reflective material instead.

Colors: Black or Brown 10 oz. Waxed Cotton fabric, with Black or Brown 10oz. waxed cotton with double-layer shoulder and elbow areas for increased abrasion protection. Sizes: Men's 34, 36–54 short, regular or long. Women's sizes 2-20 short, regular or long. Made in USA

100K in the Cousin JReview by Longhaulpaul
I only knew three things about wax before ordering the Cousin Jeremy Jacket:
1) Used to make candles and Halloween teeth
2) Harvested from the ear canal by micro bees
3) Used to seal royal proclamations and Kentucky bourbon
4) Used to remove unwanted hair from face, legs and groinal regions

My knowledge of cotton was vast. It is sheared from fuzzy beasts without any harm to the animal and unlike nylon, there is no worry for the extinction from over harvesting little Corduras.

After enjoying 700,000 miles wearing the standard Roadcrafter suits and a Darien set, I decided I wanted to try something different. From the first time I touched a Cousin Jeremy, I couldn't stop thinking about wrapping my arms in one, spending every moment on the road with it. Soft, supple like leather with a great look that evolved as it was worn.
I was worried about the maintenance though, wax on wax off, the waterproofness of cotton and not being able to give it a good wash and dry every season as I had been used to with the nylon garments.
Would it freeze and crack in the winter? Would it drip in the heat, making my next bike a candidate for the wax museum?
I never doubted the durability or functionality of the jacket, as it was built exactly the same as the world famous time tested Roadcrafter.

Last year, I lit a candle and made the jump to all naturale. I chose the tan jacket with black ballistics and matched it with the AD1 black pants.
I have since put 100K miles on the Jacket and thought I would let you know it has proven my worries were unfounded and exceeded all my expectations. No drips, no cracks, no stiffening up but no more is it tan! I rewaxed it at about 25,000 miles, but may not have really needed it because I never did it again.
It is still waterproof, and despite the build up of road filth, it still gets the job done. Yes, it has developed a persona and distinctive odor, not exactly offensive, but one that clearly has a story to tell. At 100,000 miles, I'm starting to think about the next jacket I want to get, and I will say the waxed cotton Cousin Jeremy may not be the longest lasting Aerostich I have owned, it certainly will be the one I felt had the most character. I really enjoyed the hard miles and hours I spent in it, whether in the heat of the summer or in the frigid cold. I know it may not be politically correct to say I honestly love my Cousin Jeremy.

The last 18 months and 100K miles has given me one more thing to add to my knowledge of wax:

It feels like leather, great in all sorts of weather, looks bad ass, wears like iron and tastes like chicken.

Cousin Jeremy JacketReview by Neco
Fit, finish and features of the Cousin Jeremy Jacket is outstanding. I got it in brown w/ reflective add and will wear it with my black Falstaff Pants. I am 5'7", 200 lbs. and ended up with a 48 Short to accommodate my athletic but older and now heavier frame. It is a fitted jacket and I originally ordered a 46S, but needed a bit more room. My Roadcrafter Suit is a 44 so I thought the 46 would be the right fit. Aerostich readily exchanged it and built me a 48S in short order. It is a great custom wax cotton jacket, worth the expense. Superb craftsmanship and qualityReview by Jon
Aerostich Team: I received the CJJ today via FedEx in good shape. From getting out of the box / bag and trying it on I was more and more impressed. My wife Pam was watching (she had reservations about a jacket costing this much) and she was also amazed at the superb craftsmanship and quality. I knew this was the coat when I ordered it, I have had a Roadcrafter Classic Suit since 1984 so I was aware of your products. The fit was perfect, I ordered my sport jacket size (42) and because I am six foot tall I took your advice, ordering a ‘Long’. Initially I was thinking a regular would be better because I didn’t want the length to be bunching about my upper legs. The fit in the chest and back feel comfortable, a perfect fit. The length in not too long for riding, yet the arm length is appropriately long to cover more wrist when reaching for the handlebars. Cousin Jeremy really knew what he was doing. I like the waxed cotton as opposed to wearing animal skins or synthetics. I have had multiple waxed cotton jackets from Filson but they never matched the fit and workmanship of the CJ. Thanks to Hong, Wendy G., Tom/Jake and Oksana for your expertise and care you put into making this item. The work, service and quality are truly appreciated. The jacket is worth every penny and will be used on the roads and byways of Eastern Oregon. Oh, yea, the enclosed hanger was a nice touch.
Sincerely, Jon and Pam P. (Posted on 7/18/17)
Cousin JeremyReview by Steve
Like my Falstaff, which has yet to fail, this jacket is very well constructed. The folks at Aerostich can be very proud of the labor they put into my new Cousin Jeremy, Thank you. I commute year around and have used it in place of the Falstaff for the past week. It has seen a little rain , some snow and quite a bit of wind and has proven to be as worthy. I wanted something a little more "fitted" and this one fits the bill. I get lost a couple weeks a year and this one will be going along. While both jacket are excellent, I believe once CJ get
broken in to the point that my Falstaff is it will be the go to jacket.
Thanks again, Steve (Posted on 1/29/17)
