Why not????Review by Rashid
I recently purchased the Darien jacket and pants to wear when I'm not in the mood for a full leather riding experience. Adding the hip pads (and standard back pad) seemed like a no brainer to me. (Posted on 1/19/17)
Hip padsReview by Steve
I have been riding motorbikes for over 40 years. As a trauma and orthopaedic surgeon I am only too aware of the damage that occurs when bikers have unplanned meetings with roads and other road users. Landing heavily on your side can produce hip or acetabular fractures, I would advise anyone to add hip pads to reduce the energy of this impact.
The service from Aerostitch online was super, good advice as to which pads, rapid dispatch.
How effective are they? I hope I never have to find out! (Posted on 8/15/15)
An update... the hip is ...Review by Krysta in Milwaukee
An update... the hip is still a little sore more than a year later, as is my shoulder. I hate to think what would have happened without these pads.

The bike is fixed & looking pretty again (I rode her right through the curve where I crashed, little more than 3 months later). And 2 weekends ago my fiancee bought me a Roadcrafter (in the new more obnoxious high-viz; I call it "plutonium spill")!!! So these pads will have a new home in a proper suit. (Posted on 6/10/08)
I have these and the hard...Review by Krysta in Milwaukee
I have these and the hard-over-soft knee pads installed in a pair of jeans. (I'm asking Santa for real riding pants.) I'm convinced that these pads saved me from (at a minimum) chipping bone in my hip & pelvis.

I crashed full on my left side, broke my collarbone & had a concussion through the helmet, but the hip is "only" badly bruised. Today is three weeks later and it's still sore, that's how deep the bruising was. Without pads, most likely I'd've ended up with a broken hip.

When they were taking my pants off in the ER, I was trying to tell them it was just a bruise 'cause I have the padding in my hips. I'm sure they all thought I was talking about being fat (5'10", 245#), but once the pants came unzipped, everyone laughed to see the not-attached-to-me big black things.

(The bike? Well, I managed a lowside / highside that must have been interesting to watch. Lots of cosmetic damage to a beautiful classic BMW, but she runs fine. We have the winter to get her looking good again.) (Posted on 3/27/08)
