Can an electric motorcycle be used for everyday commuting during the harsh Winter conditions experienced in Duluth, MN? Equipped with a tire studded Zero FX electric motorcycle five brave (or foolish) Aerostich test commuters chronicle the challenges, triumphs and everyday riding experiences while seeking the answer to that question. A fun read, with each ride account told by the test riders in their own words. More than just a test of machines, gear and riders in extreme conditions, this unique experiment proved that riding for everyday personal transportation in awful conditions is not only possible and can be done safely, it’s also is more fun than getting thru winter in conventional ways. By Kyle Allen, Randy Brody, Andy Goldfine, Rod Hafner, Gail Marshik and Bruce Truebenbach. Softcover. 6"×9", 136 pp., color & b&w photos.

Good winter travel-logReview by StratKat74
I've been commuting to/from work year round for many years now on 2 wheels. I live in Iowa and our winters can get almost as cold as Duluth. My co-workers are now used to it, but at first were shocked that i would ride to work when it was 0° - 15° F outside in the morning. It's not that hard to do when you have the correct clothing and you practice riding for the conditions. This book goes into that detail a lot more and gives practical real world experiences so that anyone can ride their bike in cold. Electric or Gas powered. I enjoyed the stories and tips from this book and can say that i already use many of them. PS. You don't need studded tires. Just air down a little, keep the bike upright, keep speed steady, and slow down a little. (Posted on 12/21/18)
Disappointed in bookReview by Gordy
I had hoped to learn more techniques, equipment and gear suggestions for riding in cold weather. Instead much of the book was about maintaining the unique Zero electric motorcycle (how many of us own one of those?) and how many tire studs are appropriate (how many of us ride on ice?), and remembrances of the riders who shared the bike. Oh, well, it was only $10 and only took about 2 hours to read. (Posted on 11/10/18)
Maybe I could motorcycle in the winter?Review by JG-FJRfun
Living in Minnesota I have to tuck my bike away for months and I miss the adventures we have.
I enjoyed reading about everyone's experience with the ZERO and I find myself driving around now thinking about how the pavement looks dry enough I could ride today if I had a winter set up.
I enjoyed the book so much I am making it a gift for a bunch of my friends.
I really enjoyed the inner thoughts that the riders share about why this experience was good for them, why they love to ride and how the motorcycle industry is changing with more options. (Posted on 12/15/16)
Great read any time of yearReview by TRC.Rhubarb
Great book with insights into what it's really like to ride in extreme cold. Especially for a guy from California. It was enjoyable getting into the minds of the Aerostich staff and the small town of Duluth. Well done! (Posted on 12/7/16)
