AD1 Motorcycle Pants
- Product Review (submitted on October 16, 2008):
Received mine on sale (for the cosmetic blem which I cannot find) to replace my Darien's for which I got too fat. Big improvement. Still stiff, but I'm sure they'll break in like my Dariens did. I am 6'3" with a 36" inseam, and ordered the long. I ride an R1100S which is a more sporting stance than the touring bikes and they fit great. With the extra length they are actually long enough to keep the wind from blowing up the legs. The pleat in the knee and expanded crotch make it much easier to get onto and ride a bike with a high seat and pegs. A couple of points for improvement...1) easy fix...they switched from a clip buckle belt to a slide through buckle, but cut the end of the belt square. If they'd taper those corners it would be a LOT easier threading it through the buckle. 2) the nylon is still slick on the seats. If they could incorporate some of that rubberized non-slip material (like on the bottom of RKA bags) on the bottom 1/4 of the butt/upper 2" of thigh it would eliminate slipping around so much. 3) more velcro in the knee area to allow for more custom positioning of the knee pads would be appreciated. Right now, they fit in one place(with less than 1" of adjustment). People's legs are different proportions, and (as seen above) some people like buying their pants shorter or longer to fit their personal taste. Some adjustment in that area would make them a better fit for a greater percentage of the population.
Overall a great product. I thought the Darien's were great. These are better.
