A hat like this is a simple thing. It seems. But not really. The purpose of this cap is to be compact enough and light enough to be able to be stored un-noticably in the front long-zip pocket of any of an Aerostich (or other) riding suit or jacket, so when your helmet comes off you can protect your head, and shield the sun from your eyes. A more substantial cap like the #653 Performance cap wears just as fine, and looks just as good, but does not have the ability to crunch down to almost nothing for pocket-storage like this one. There are lots of trucker caps in all kinds of different fabrics and styles and weights. We tried many before deciding this was the most compact-able.
