  1. Customer Service
Rich - Thanks for writing. Sorry these shorts have not met your requirements. A couple of notes:
1.) The pockets on these shorts were made deeper some time ago. It is possible an earlier-made pair still in stock was sent to you. If you contact us at <[email protected]> we’ll be happy to arrange shipping them back here so we can see them. If yours were one of the earlier ones with the shallower pockets (?), we will send you the current version.
2.) The webbing belt will not self-loosen if it is threaded though the friction bars on the Delrin slider correctly. The correct way to do this is to bring the end of the webbing belt behind both friction bars, then over the top of farthest one, then back into the Delrin slider between the two friction bars, and then out toward the direction the webbing belt was coming from. This over-under arrangement won’t self-loosen.

  2. Great Materials, Questionable Function
Typical Aerostich high-quality materials and construction, but the overall function design had me wondering what's up in Duluth. First thing I notice is no fly. That negates one of the biggest attributes of the Roadcrafter in that you don't have to take it off for a "pit stop." With these shorts, now you do. Second thing is the pockets: no hip pockets, thus limiting its use for more than riding a motorcycle, and the side pockets are really wonky and hard to keep stuff from falling out. Finally, the fastex buckled "belt" is useless and keeps working loose, and there are no belt loops. After walking around one evening always holding my pants up with one had, I changed into my Brand X shorts. Glad I bought only one pair of the Aerostich shorts. These things ain't cheap and this is NOT the usual functionality and forethought designed into Aerostich products. I dunno, maybe I got a prototype pair. Very disappointing.

  3. Good, But Pricey
I've been wearing them four or five months now--don't worry, not the entire time--and they feel great. Biggest complaint is the sinch strap seems useless. No matter what I would do I couldn't get it to say sinched. I replaced it with some hockey laces and much better now. Wouldn't think it'd be necessary on a pair of shorts this expensive...

Other than that, they seem well made and are comfortable. Still unsure if I'd pay full price for them again.

  4. Twill Short Shorts
I've comfortably worn a short pair of these for several years and am glad to pick up a couple long pairs at a slightly reduced price. Lately, I've been using them for Parkour training (commando not a good idea) because they allow great freedom of movement. I fixed the shallow-pocket problem by sewing on velcro closures - they are worth the extra effort - but the deeper pockets are welcome news. No back pocket, please; they look and feel good just as they are.

  5. Great Shorts
I have been looking for a good knock around pair of shorts. These fit the bill. I was happy the Aerostich took the recommendations of other reviews and deepened the pockets. Great Job. If I had only one complaint it would be to add a rear pocket to carry a billfold.

  6. My new favorite shorts
For years I wore "brand X" shorts... that would fall apart pretty pdq. One summer, done.

Not these - I've found my new favorite shorts. Good for scooter sorties too... gotta have my "safety shorts" :)

  7. Aerostich Quality / Pocket Problems
Pricey but well made. I am a 34 waist, ordered a large/long, they fit nicely. I washed mine 5-6 times before they softened up but still stiff. The pockets are too shallow to store anything of value in. Hopefully they fix this and re-issue or offer an option for a minimal front/side cargo pocket to keep keys/wallet in?

  8. Twill shorts
Too large, hope they shrink like prior twill pants I have had. Pockets too shallow, I like to have deep pockets to put stuff into.
Cloth feels sturdy, rugged, since it is new. Should mellow with a few washings.

  9. Who wears short shorts?
$60 seems a bit much, but...
I just got back from a 240-mile (temps in the 70s/80s) ride wearing the 6" shorts for the first time. I barely noticed them. The only time I did was after a pit stop and felt the them hems were a little tight around my thighs. A brief stand-up on the pegs let them shift against my riding pants. My butt did feel a little more chaffed than usual, what with the cotton shorts rubbing against my cotton boxerbriefs. I hope a coupla washes will reduce that, or a change in undies. But for my usual NYC commuting, these should work great.
And who doesn't love the CBT/short shorts look?

  10. Not Impressed for the money
I've never been as disappointed in an Aerostich offering as these shorts. I think they were very overpriced for what they are. They ran much larger than my usual size. Look baggy to the point I'm embarrassed walking around in public in them. I give them props because I think they may have been attempting to make the leg openings as large as possible so you could step through with boots. But in the end there's nothing here that couldn't be replicated by buying something two sizes too big at a big box retailer and pocketing the extra $20. Sorry.
