  1. Re: Washing/Care of Silk Scarves
Though the fabric-care label reads “dry clean only”, silk may be hand-washed without damaging the material. The difference between the two cleaning methods is the resulting appearance only. Dry cleaning leaves the scarf looking smooth and ready for wear on formal dress occasions. Washing with water and soap leaves the scarves wrinkled. Riders using them wetted for functional cooling during hot rides (where dress appearance isn’t important) repeatedly wet and dry them, and they also hand-wash well when traveling with ordinary soap.

  2. Life Saver
I am delighted with the jacket! It exemplifies the quality of construction that I expect in your products! I use your products literally from head to toe and know them to be well made, durable and with great performance in all conditions and can hardly wait to try this one out. I find that your Darien Lite jackets (i previously had one in Hi Viz) works pretty well in the heat and is dynamite is protecting me from the sun. I have a black regular weight Darien that I wear in the cold times and will be changing to the new one shortly as our temps are already getting into the 70s. Also, the BEST thing you make for hot weather is your Silk Scarf which I purchased last summer after either reading one your blogs or perhaps seeing it on a you tube video. It was literally a life saver because we had few days with highs less than 100 degrees from late June until late August. I would saturate the scarf in cold water at hourly water and fuel stops and along with saturated base layer sleeves and a skull cap I stayed reasonably cool until the next stop.

  3. Great Product
I never ride without my silk scarf. I just wish it didn't say "dry clean only" on the care label. :-)

  4. Field Test in Severe Conditions
I ride a Harley Bagger in South Texas west of San Antonio. It is common for me to ride all day in temps in mid 90s to low 100s. This scarf (white long version)is by far the most important piece of gear I have for keeping me cool. I place it in a water filled zip lock bag (along with a thin skull cap) while I am drinking water at a fuel stop. The scarf retains this cool water beneath my Darien jacket for over an hour when it's time to stop and hydrate myself again. I give this product a full 10 out of 10 for performance.

  5. Great Accessory, but Quality Issue
During a 400-mile ride, the scarf helped prevent chafing along the collar; shielded my neck from the sun, and when wet had a great cooling effect. However, after one use, the stitching along the hem began to unravel in a small section. I will contact Aerostich to see if it can be exchanged. Other than that issue, it is a great accessory.

  6. Great.....but tie properly
Great kit. Many uses as other reviewers have stated. Tie it properly or it will be "gone with the wind". Ask me how I know. :)

  7. Must have silk scarf
I ordered a replacement scarf because I donated my much loved and used Aerostich scarf to my wife. Early in the pandemic there was a shortage of masks so my wife made a batch for our family and lined the interior of the masks with a second layer of silk from my scarf. The silk not only provided an additional layer of protection, it also provided a soft non irritating inner layer that made the mask much more comfortable to wear. As a side note these scarfs also make a way cool wind block for your neck in colder weather and when soaked with water add a cooling layer during the hot days of summer when riding a motorcycle.

  8. Just Right
Packs small enough to keep in the saddlebag for those chilly rides when I need to protect my neck.

  9. Standard Silk Scarf - now an essential part of ...
I bought this on a whim. in white, back in 2014, and wore it just a couple of times. After a short hiatus from riding, I dug it back out after finding myself consistently wearing neck tubes and bandanas anyhow (a habit I picked up as a ski patroller). Now I'm 100% in love with the protection and comfort it provides whether it is very hot or very cold. In either case, it provides comfort for keeping my head on a swivel, and prevents excessive heat loss or gain from an exposed neck (and the blood flowing through the neck arteries). It really does a great job helping maintain a consistent and comfortable riding temperature (and help keep angry insects from entering my jacket via the neck). And, yes, I may look a bit like Niles or Frasier compared to my other riding buddies, but whatever. I'm secure in myself, and enjoy the comfort it affords. Just be smart about how you wear it...don't lose your head, keep it tucked in. Looking forward to receiving my new scarf in black...again, on a whim.

  10. it is all the ads say it is ... but
after getting it the reality is that it feels foolish to wear it - proof that fashion doesn't drive me when I am riding - seems a buff just is much easier
