Aerostich Standard Silk Scarves

I purchased this scarf mainly for cooling during hot weather. It has surpassed my expectations. While riding during high 90s, I stayed comfortably cool, even with full gear. (I soaked the scarf in water.) I am looking forward to how it performs during cold weather.

I bought one about two years ago on the recommendation of a friend. I have used it in cool and hot weather; it provides warmth and wicking in those respect climates. I rarely ride without it! My recent purchase of two will be gifts to my sister-in-law and her husband, both avid riders.

This scarf is perfect for all day riding and blocking out wind but it’s also great in hot weather by soaking it in water and worn loosely to provide a cooling effect. It really paid for itself though when I was on the Isle of Man after riding (not racing) the TT course my wife and I were on a 17 mile hike. In the middle of it I strained my Achilles’ tendon. My wife wrapped my ankle tightly with the scarf and it provided the right amount of support to finish the hike.

The silk scarves can be cleaned by sending them to a dry-cleaner, or by following the included instructions and handwashing with a mild detergent. Some riders choose to not wash them at all and build up a natural patina... YMMV.

It took a while but I finally got my scarf. I love it. Road in 40 deg F. weather two days ago and it was great. I love how it stops my razor stubble from rubbing raw on my collar. Two issues. I should have been notified that it was back ordered and would have to wait a month for delivery. Second it says dry clean only on the scarf tag but your printed information include states handwash only. What should I do?

Very nice quality and very soft. Works great in the cold weather. Also will be using it in summer for cooling.

I don't know why I waited so long to buy this. Even in 92 degree weather my neck stayed cool. It's so soft and helps the comfort level around my neck.

It's too early in the year to be riding here but I purchased this for my riding friend to protect her neck and keep her cool on long rides. It's a very soft, smooth scarf and she loves it.

While riding in the cooler/colder days I would always catch a draft at my neck, wrists, ankles, etc. I ordered this to eliminate the draft at the neck area. Not only does it do that, but the jacket I wear (non aerostitch) is rough at the neck. It protects my neck skin from these rough areas of the jacket, and stops any drafts. Carry it with me all the time now. Don't know about the summer cooling of it when wet, but look forward to trying it this coming summer.

I dithered back and forth on dropping $27 for a silk scarf. I'm very glad I placed the order! In warm weather, it's a good way to ride with the jacket zipper opened a bit without worrying about bugs scooped into the jacket (it's happened!). In cooler weather, it keeps cold air blowing into the jacket. And, of course, it makes a smooth surface against my neck instead of a now-pilling jacket color. I worried about the length until I just doubled the scarf to make it shorter, wrapped it around my neck, and stuffed the tail through the loop formed from doubling the scarf.
