Transit 3 Waterproof Leather Two Piece Suit

Starting at $1,067.00

SKU
325-326

After a six year absence, it's back and better than ever.

From its revolutionary introduction in 2008 and through its discontinuance in 2013 which was caused by materials (supply-chain) complications, this was the best leather gear available.

The NEW Transit 3 has all of the exact same features and details of the original. It's still just as durable. And as tough. And as waterproof. (The Transit 3's leather is a bit softer and even more comfortable, though.)

This two-piece waterproof/breathable leather suit is a long-term investment in all-weather protection and comfort you will appreciate on every ride. Jacket and Pants are available together or separately.

  1. transit 2 review. overall happy, but need repair service
I have over 20k on my transit 2 suit that I wear year round in rainy Seattle as oversuit. Overall, very happy with quality. I have had to replace the zippers 2 times down legs. They tend to fall apart at the bend in the knee from constant flexing, I have also replace the goretex textile at the crotch on pants 1 x. The jacket zippers and waterproofing still work great. I initially enquired whether Aerostich would be able to do pant repairs and was informed that was not an option. Luckily I have a local shop that does excellent work. These repairs are not cheap! ($150 per zipper each time, crotch $250). If I didnt love the suit, I would have gone somewhere else, but wish Aero would do repairs for lower cost that I had to pay. Unfortunately, with COVID, my waist size has increased and going up a size on a new pair of Transit 3 pants. Hope that they last better....

  2. Transit 3 Suit Experience
@Rob, We are sorry your Transit 3 has not met your requirements. Your experience is very unusual. Typically when the YKK Aquaguard waterproof zipper is stressed by a ‘U’ shaped flexing where the leather folds in the transition from torso to lap some water may leak past its seals. When it looks like extreme rain the zipper works best if folds can be flattened so as to help rainwater run off and not pool over a ‘U’ shaped section of zipper.

  3. First time I've been disappointed in an Aerostich product
This is a critical review of my Transit 3 riding suit. I've been an Aerostich customer for years, and I've always held the company's products and customer service in the highest regard. The Transit 3 suit therefore represents a significant diversion from past experience.

I received the Transit 3 in January 2021. Since I'm retired now, and am no longer commuting daily on my bike, I usually choose to not ride in poor weather these days. For that reason, I didn't have a chance to test the suit in rain until mid-June 2021.

I was extremely disappointed. Over a period of 6 hours of light to moderate (but steady) rain my legs were soaked from mid-thigh to ankle. My belly was also soaked, along with the arms from elbow to wrist.

This pattern suggests that the zippers failed to keep the water out. I really expected more from a $2000 riding suit. The materials and workmanship appear to be very good, and I'm sure the suit will be protective in a crash. I'm disappointed that I can expect to get very wet when it rains, however. My old Roadcrafter R-3 is much more waterproof even though it suffers from zipper leakage in the crotch.

In light of the high cost and lack of water protection, I cannot recommend the Transit 3 riding suit.

  4. Transit 2 Review
About 3 years ago I booked a Pashnit motorcycle tour with about 10 other guys on the West Coast and showed up with the prospect of nothing but three days of rain. Fortunately, I had just bought an Aerostitch Transit 2 riding suit. Although I’d ridden since I was 10 years old I had never bought a suit before. For several years I’d heard riders mention “Aerostitch” as if they were talking about the Ferrari of suits.

I wanted the best so I took the plunge.

Sure enough, rain pelted us the whole three days. On our first stop everybody was soaked and asked me if my suit was leaking. I said ‘No man, I’m perfectly dry. This suit is unbelievable.”

Guys were pulling off their clothes at restaurants and putting them on heaters.

They were soaked to the underwear. I had a little bit of leakage around my gloves and that was it. Their design just works really well, and I LOVE my Transit suit.

  5. Exudes quality and craftsmanship
I am posting only first impressions and sizing feedback at this time, as I will not be riding for a few more winter months. I am very impressed with this gear. It exudes quality and craftsmanship that seem to justify the cost. At this time I can only pick on the circumference zipper, which sticks so much that it is very hard to operate while wearing the gear, but hopefully that will improve with use. I wear a 44L dress coat. I ordered the jacket 46R, which fits nearly perfectly. I wear 38x34 casual pants. I initially ordered 40L, which were way too wide and way too long. Based on that, I exchanged for 38R, which were too short in the rise. I then exchanged for 38L, which fit acceptably. The waist has some extra room for casual pants worn underneath, but the calves have no such allowance. The top of the front waistband falls just a bit below the top of my belt buckle. The big picture is that I cannot wait to ride with this gear.

  6. Transit 3
Just got the Transit 3 and it's just as good as I hoped! Crazy but the ONLY thing I'm gonna have to get used to is the European main jacket zipper! Thank you again for bringing this product back.

  7. Transit 2 happiness
By far the best pieces of gear I have ever bought for motorcycling. The price was a bit hard to bite into, but glad I did! My first ride test of the suit was 250 miles through varying rain for 4 hours. It was a flawless victory in dryness and comfort! Out of the box straight from delivery this suit performed, and outperforms everything I have ever tried, and without tweeting this and spraying down that... To end up wet anyway. The suit performed even with it warm, keeping me comfortable. If you want gear that you don't have to stop and change around, adding and taking away layers and liners, and just ride through whatever is in front of you, this is what you NEED!

  8. So glad I pulled the trigger....
I had been trolling Aerostich for years looking at the Transit, and subsequently the Transit 2. Always hoping I would have the $ some day to purchase one. And over the years I watch the price go up and up, and become even more unobtainable. I really wanted waterproof and I really wanted leather. I had contemplated many other Aorostich product, but just couldn't settle. Then they got a shipment of 2's in with "Blemishes" at the same time coincidentally that I was receiving my bonus check. Miraculously my car did not require maintenance or major repairs as it has in years past. And combined with the "Leather and Lace" Sale, I was ecstatic to receive my perfectly sized Transit 2 for a not so anxiety ridden price of $1400 & Change! I am so glad I never allowed myself to settle for any of the many other gore-tex moto attire I pored over for years while making due with a $300 suit from AGV Sport (stopgap while I saved and toiled, but honestly not bad besides not being waterproof). And now I am more happy than ever that I purchased when I did, as I see the Gore-Tex laminated Leather which this suit it made from is being discontinued! I could not be more happy with my purchase!

2 months in an the suit is finally starting to break in and allowing full mobility on my daily commute. I cannot imagine using this suit on a supersport until broken in, raising my legs in my 94 VFR was like doing high knees taking off from every stoplight. But totally comfortable once underway. The Jacket feels very ventilated, while moving, and I can tell a difference in heat when sitting opposed to my 90-tastic Fieldsheer leathers I use for fun rides. Unfortunately after years of riding in spring rains (rainsuit layerd under my AGV textile Suit) it has barely rained this spring in SF, which is a shame because I am so excited to test the waterproof-ness of the Transit!
The Armor is very substantial, Level 2: Back, Shoulders, Elbows, Knees. and Level 1 Hip. It seems stiff on putting on the suit, but then your body heat softens it up an it gets very pliable. I wear my transit pants as an overpant, so I bought 2 sizes over my jean size, they fit great (could have gone one, but I figure at 36 I'm not getting any smaller). Waist is a bit big but I made a strap belt at a hardware store with a clip.

In short, if you have been on the fence and toiling over the decision to actually buy a transit. Now is the time to, unfortunately there will probably be no more deals to be had on the remaining stock, but it is fully worth it! DO IT!

  9. love my Transit
I have had my Transit suit for almost 3 years, logged 60,000km in all types of weather, and I still love it. My transit is the best gear I have owned, it is so good that I gave away all my rain gear, and summer gear, the only extra gear I now carry is my silk scarf and an electric liner for the winter. With my Transit there is no need to check the weather because I know my Transit will keep me comfortable and protected for a great days riding.

  10. transit suit- Aerostich does leather!
I've had a road crafter for 20+ years and the transit suit for six.
for long distance touring it is the suit I now use-it IS waterproof- sealing the next is always a challenge- but with the three finger rain gloves, and layered clothing- it keeps me warm and dry no matter how wet the weather.
Hard to believe but I think it is MORE airtight than the Road Crafter, too.
