  1. Third Pair
This is my third pair of Elkskin Ropers. The first two simply wore out and developed holes. I wear them in rain so they have become saturated on numerous long rides (Seattle to Anchorage: Seattle to Texas). My Goldwing has over 110,000 miles so these gloves have been touring in all kinds of weather and all types of location. I very much like the tactile feel and the fit. I have large hands and these XXL fit very well. When these wear out I will buy another pair.

  3. Nice gloves
Took these gloves for a 200 mile test drive today. Very comfortable and a good fit! I’ve got some elk skin gauntlets as well and I get the same type of fell with both!

  4. Love the gloves
Got 'em for Christmas. They feel just a tad loose but when warmer I will do the soak 'em and wear them while I ride. Right now it is cold & I ride with Vetter Hippo Hands so wet gloves wouldn't be a great idea. Love the soft feel. Only real problem is the seam where the middle and ring finger section of the gloves attach to the main body is digging into my wedding band at times and being a bit unpleasant. This is typical of work glove construction. Once I "Wet Shrink" them as described, I'll see if it clears up or is there some modification needed. Since I didn't read any other mentioning this, I figger it's just my personal interaction with the gloves.
You can't use the snap tap to close them if glove is over the cuff of a Darien jacket. I think I will add a second male snap to accomodate the extra thickness. Else all be good.

  5. Elkskin Ropers - fabulous
Why pay twice as much for these gloves instead of buying a pair at the hardware store? I wonder if they could really be that much better. They is no comparison whatsoever. These are like custom made gloves. I still can't get over how soft and smooth they feel, all the while being much thicker than I imagined. Buttery smooth. I followed the chart for size... I almost returned them because I thought they may be too big.. I followed the instructions to wet them and ride for several hours.. The next day they were like perfect on my hands. I could not be happier. I have several different pair of gloves and I giving them all away. I was warned that once I get a pair that I will never use my other gloves again... And I haven't and won't... You will not regret buying these gloves.. You will actually be upset you waited so long to get them... These gloves exceeded my expectations in every way...

  6. Super Gloves
I broke these in as suggested on a hot day, after soaking them with water. It was a great excuse to go on a long, uninterrupted ride so they would dry out and stretch and shrink in the appropriate places! The gloves have now been formed to my hands. Quite neat. I suspect the Ropers will become my "go-to" gloves most of the time now. I am impressed.

  7. Elk skin ropers
I just received these gloves in a quick timely manner. I measured my hand according to the sizing chart, and ordered a size 11. They fit pretty good, a little on the large size, but I haven’t done the wet break in yet, and they are definitely comfortable and functional. I like’em! May try a 10.5 next time, but will get a few miles on these before deciding. I ordered the gauntlet merino elkskins gloves as well, and they fit perfect right off, size 12. I’ve been wearing these lately as the weather has been in the 40s and 50s, but will give the ropers a go this spring. These are great gloves of which I am grateful, and will continue to use as long as they’re available.

  8. Tough Glove!
This is one tough glove! My "go-to" for all tough work jobs and gardening. Even use for motorcycle rides, though I prefer a thinner glove for riding. My latest hobby is building bamboo fly rods, which require a tough glove (rivaling handling barbed wire!) to keep hands from getting shredded. I found them!

  9. Ropers
Soft, fit really well. Delightful gloves! I loved them immediately. No seams to pinch or make the grips difficult to hold. Beautiful craftsmanship.

  10. Not quite right for my ride
First the good: these are the softest abrasion resistant gloves I have experienced, and are bargain-priced.
I bought them as summer gloves to replace a pair that had worn through a finger in less than two seasons, hoping for a durable alternative. As such they are fine - very comfortable, although warmer than vented leather or fabric gloves. The lack of hard protection is on par for summer gloves, but I worry they would come off in a fall, as they can't be cinched tight.
First off, they run large. I ordered the size indicated, but they are wide in the fingers and across the palm. Rather than exchanging them, I wet them and rode for an hour or more in 90 degree heat, and they conformed nicely to my hands, but did not really shrink down. They also got a couple of superficial tears when riding wet, as i have Oxford heated grips with an abrasive texture. I have a Speed Triple, which has a moderately aggressive riding position that puts weight on your wrists. The bunching at the palms, combined with a lack of padding, along with the loose fingers and a seam that rubs inside the thumb & index finger combine to make this less than ideal glove for a sporty bike. Their looseness makes it hard to easily thumb the turn signal or starter, so on a modern bike with drive modes, and multiple menu systems to navigate, these could be even more awkward.. I can see for a cruiser, or old school upright bike these would be great, but I need something tighter and more ergonomic feeling. I think with silk liners these will be decent in cooler weather and I'll continue to wear them but will keep looking for that elusive short summer glove which is comfortable, cool, protective and ergonomic for my specific needs.
