ABOUT THIS MAP...

Statistics for the average daily and seasonal temperatures in thousands of locations are available from the US Department of Agriculture to help farmers know what kinds of crops to plant and when to harvest.

The different sizes of the numbers on the map correspond to the populations of the cities listed. In other words, a large number like Los Angeles have a lot of people, and the average low and high temps used by this formula are seldom exceeded there, so this city has lots of ridable days. In contrast, cities like Phoenix AZ and Duluth MN each have different size numbers based on their differing populations, but similarly few ridable days because in those places so many days are by this formula on average either too hot or too cold.

The high and low temperatures used (95°F and 25°F / 35°C and -3.8°C) are based on the temperatures which are easy to dress for with Aerostich gear. It’s always been comparatively simple to ride through temperatures between 95°F and 25°F over urban distances.

That cool bike you've got sitting between your legs is officially recognized by the U.S. Federal Government as much more than an amusing toy. These are exact replicas of the signs above the HOV lanes across the freeways of California. They are a reminder that motorcycles are given extra privileges because riding them is social good. We all know that. Unfortunately most of your neighbors don’t. They’re positive motorcycles are self-indulgent toys -- Including yours. Let them know all fifty states have a totally different view, and have installed signs like these above our busiest and most congested roads to announce and declare: MOTORCYCLES OK. Officially. No equivocation. The government knows that choosing riding helps all of us, every time a rider gets on their motorcycle instead of getting into a car. (...thanks Brian)

Go ahead, roll your eyes, but this multi-functional thing helps keep you safer from a virus or germs. Yes it is a bit O.C.D., but pandemic aside, it’s still a useful little multipurpose gadget. Use its locking clip to open doors or drawers without touching them (at suspect gas stations, public restrooms and wayside rests). The built-in stylus tip can be used for germy public touchscreens and keypads. There’s a box opener, flat head screwdriver, and the mandatory bottle opener, too. This tool is for doing lots of tasks without directly touching anything. Clips anywhere for instant easy access. We looked at several of these things and this is the nicest one we found. (Riding may sometimes be risky but is always rewarding. Pandemic viruses not so much.) 5.25”x2.6”x.25”.

We’ll be honest: these socks were added to the catalog with a fair amount of eye-rolling. But these popped up covered in motorcycles, made us laugh, and now they’re here. They’re comfortable, well-made, and don’t take themselves too seriously—just like the bikes printed all over them.

Fun? Yes. Essential? Probably not. Still hard not to like.
