About Us - A Founder's Note:

Aerostich started in 1983 after some junky used sewing equipment came my way and I decided to see what I could do with it. After about a year I came up with a business plan to make a one-piece coverall for motorcycle commuting. At the time I was a weekend and recreational dirt rider who had been doing a few AMA D23 Enduros, and thought if I had a regular street bike (in addition to my enduro bike) and such a coverall, I’d be able to ride more and drive less. The resulting Aerostich coverall was radical at the time and required a completely new recipe of ingredients. It was a new type of rider's gear.

Naturally (but surprising to me) 95% of our early customers did not want to become motorcycle commuters, but the new recipe was in some ways still better for recreational motorcycling. To keep the business solvent, I had to adjust in that direction which meant making other variations and styles.

Over the years the recipe I used to make the original coverall became the common standard for most kinds of rider's gear, which now is made mostly in Asia and distributed worldwide by others. I’m slowly pivoting Aerostich back toward its original goal, which is to help facilitate more utility-transportation motorcycling in the USA and other rich countries. We are making tiny increments of progress via the Johnny Appleseed method of selling one suit at a time. Underneath all the BS, these coveralls are IMHO (in my humble opinion) a subversive product for those who don’t care what they look like, and who want a good tool to help them ride more, and in greater safety and comfort.
