Yes, I do use our little face shield kit. And for some reason don’t miss the ’spray pump’ component. Over the last few years I've become more squeamish about using the filthy windshield cleaning tools in the dirty water out by the gas pumps. I was fine doing that for years but now what I do is take some of the paper towels off the pump island and jam them into my helmet and use the sink in the rest room to clean my helmet. This takes a little more time but at least I’m getting clean water. I don’t use the Protect-All wax (one bottle has windex and the other Protect-All) during the day. I usually apply a fresh coat at night after the day’s ride is over. My last trip was six road days and four motel nights (to-and-from NYC the slow way) so I did the wax treatment four times. When it rains on a Protect-All’d face shield it’s almost as good as Armor-All, and bug splats are also easier to remove.

Clean, simple, old school straight leg blue jeans...with a great trick: TF3 Impact armor-holding pockets at the knees (sold separately), accessed via a hidden zipper. Armor is removed or replaced in seconds, easily, while wearing the pants. All the rest is classic denim jean spec., with fit and cut similar to Levi's 501s.

Specifically, these are carefully sewn of unwashed dark blue 100% cotton 14 oz denim fabric, which is a bit heavier-duty than the more common 10-12 oz denim, but it still shrinks-to-a-custom-fit after a wash or two, which makes these pants extra comfortable and wear a lot longer.

For protektion there are three generous hidden areas of abrasion resistant Breathable-Waterproof HT 500D Nylon (…as used in many Aerostich suits) located at the seat and knees. For ‘commando’ comfort this extra-abrasion-resistant fabric is backed by soft 100% cotton.

As you’d expect there are five traditional pockets, five belt loops and a reliable metal fly zipper, too. But as you wouldn’t expect, the hidden seat-protective breathable-waterproof abrasion layer means you can sit on a freshly rain-wetted saddle and not get a wet butt. Nice!

The optional knee armor (sold separately at right or below) is positioned in the correct location when riding, and when you’re off the bike it's comfortably flexible and easily removable.

Stitching is double and triple wherever needed, and a crotch gusset provides extra ease and comfort that’s great when mounting up and also as you move around in the saddle.

A narrowed TF3 knee impact armor that's more comfortable than the standard riding--suit sized TF knee armor inside the knee armor pockets of Aerostich Protekt Khaki's and Jeans. Same height as standard TF knee armor (10") but 1.5" narrower (6" vs 7.5"), so it fits and feels better in these pants. Also will fit the knee armor pockets in Classic Roadcrafters, R-3's, Darien and AD-1 pants. A fitted black Supernyl bag encloses each knee armor pad.

One of the best technology crossovers from bicycling to motorcycling is padded, stretchy shorts. If you’ve never worn these things on a long ride, you owe it to yourself to try a pair. They seem to add another couple hundred mile range to a day, as they keep fatigue at bay longer than yer basic briefs.
