Know the health of your bikes charging system in real-time with this compact, waterproof, digital voltmeter. Reads tenths of a volt (12.6, 12.7, 12.8, etc) and is easy to install. Compact, easy to read, waterproof, vibration proof and dust proof.
Install with permanent double-sided mounting adhesive tape to attach to the side an instrument panel, triple clamp or fairing or use the removable (file or grind off) bosses for bolt-on dashboard installations.
Connect to any circuit that’s powered when your bikes’ key is in the ‘run’ position and you’ll see the battery’s voltage. Then hit the starter and the display will indicate the a slight voltage drop as the engine cranks over. And you’ll notice similar tenth-of-a-volt electrical fluctuations whenever a brake light, driving light, electric grips, horn or other electric load is added, and a correctly functioning charging system will stabilize the readout nearly instantaneously. Reassuring. But if you notice the system voltage is for some reason slowly dropping you’ve either added too much load, or the charging system isn’t working right, which is nice to know before unexpectedly finding yourself on the side of the road somewhere. Most bikes will run for some time if the charging system fails, so you can get to someplace better than a lonely roadside. A café, bike shop, motel, or home. Inexpensive peace of mind for the electrically paranoid.
Installation notes: Shortish 6” leads mean you’ll probably need add a bit of wire for most installations, and the display is bright enough to be read easily in direct sunlight so it may be overly bright at night…which can be adjusted/dimmed with nail polish or a thin fog of overspray. Specify Red, Green or Blue display color. Measures voltage from 3.5 to 30V. 1”x.6”x.7”.
